This Just In: Joakim Noah Is A Douche

I didn't see any of the SEC Championship game, but I saw enough of the post-game coverage to give me a reason to root against Florida. I got this vibe during their tournament run last year, but this coming clip really solidified it for me. I'll let the video speak for itself.

Verne Lundquist can hardly keep a straight face...in fact, he can't. It made me realize just how much he looks like the guy from Office Space - the guy who gets hit by a car, and loves it. I tried to find a clip of his post-game interview, which made Noah look even worse. He must not have attended many English or communications classes in Gainesville, as he comes off looking like a moron. If this video had been from last year's run, maybe it would have been an acceptable showcase of glee. But Noah's been around the block before, and should show a little more professionalism and tact. He should know better.

This video will be why I'll be rooting against Florida for the next few weeks.

Get over yourself! thanks!

You're the one who looks like a moron. What are "English of communication" classes?

Anonymous said...

Learn to read, "English OR communication"

Hey anonymous guy above me... You can't read! It says "English or communication" not "English of communication." How funny that you were trying to point out the writer's idiocy when you in fact are the moron.

He actually looks more like one of the Bobs from Office Space. This guy right here.

Nice to see everyone in Gainesville post to defend this freak. There isn't a more annoying player in this year's tournament. Can't wait to see him crying on the bench when they go out.

Please remove the word "faggot" from your message boards. I am not one for censorship, but I doubt you would leave the "n-word" up if it were posted. Could you please remove the equally offensive word? Thanks very much and I enjoy your site (normally).

This guy will literally do anything he can to draw attention to himself. Make no mistake.. Noah is a "me" guy and this team will not repeat as champions.

Obviously, the dude went back in and edited his mistake. He's still a moron, however, because there is another one in there. It's spelled "Gainesville" genius.

"should show a little more professionalism" -- the NCAA is an amateur league, fuckwad. noah is a kid, and he acted accordingly. oh, and your blog sucks.

Anonymous said...

What's wrong with you people? Noah is everything that sports isn't today and there needs to be more athletes like him. Energy, enthusiasm and FUN! So what if he looks like a douche. I'd much rather see him dance when his team takes the conference title then any meaningless touchdown celebration against a crappy team.
And I am NOT from Gainesville.

All that aside, he looks like a cross of E.T. and Skelator.

Pico said...

Eat a dick, man. That was fun, best dance I've seen since Koy Detmer's touchdown dance.

Sean O said...

This just in: This blogger is a doucher. Wow, a player celebrated a tournament win by dancing. Who cares? I saw a lot of other players dancing and celebrating tourney wins, why single out Noah. Get a life dude. I don't even like the Gators, or Noah for that matter, but who give a fuck if he's dancing?

i gotta agree here: if showing some emotion for once (and crying does NOT count) qualifies you to be a douche, then you my friend, don't deserve to watch the NCAA's...

bates said...

It would indeed appear that the denizens of Gainesville have rolled off their sisters for a few moments to defend this prick.

The preening, the cocky facial expressions, the pouting after every foul, the endless, endless, ENDLESS dancing--Noah is the quintessential Child of Privilege. Why bother being humble? He's gotten what he wants his whole life.

Say what you want about Duke (I sure do), but at least their douchebag players don't dance for a full hour after every semi-important victory.

Grimey said...

Noah is the quintessential Child of Privilege. Why bother being humble? He's gotten what he wants his whole life.

Yes, bates, he was handed the National Championship and Tournament M.O.P. award last year.

Anonymous said...

This is why Joakim Noah is the most entertaining player in college basketball. Anybody that watched this clip and didn't laugh has problems.

Anonymous said...

I actually agree with the poster. Noah might be the biggest douche in college basketball. I think he takes himself and the Gators bball team a bit too seriously. If he wasn't non-American, I don't think we would so readily excuse some of the idiotic things he does/says, i.e swiping at cheerleaders, and acting a fool.

Anonymous said...

Lotta haters out there... If you hate this stuff, go watch the NBA.

And how could you hate on his "It don't matta! It don't matta!" response to the question of seeding. You'll never hear Noah say boring crap like "We'll just take it one game at a time."

The dude's fun and one of the prime examples of what makes NCAA Basketball my favorite sport.

mediapossum said...

Gerald Henderson busts up Tyler Hansbrough's nose in an act of frustration because his team was getting creamed and yet you think Joakim Noah is a douche bag for celebrating his teams third-straight SEC Tournament Championship? Get some perspective, man.

And for all of the haters saying that Noah is self-centered and spoiled. I leave you with this: The guy elected to return for his Junior year to defend Florida's title. He also plays for a team where every player is more concerned with winning as a teams as opposed to being the "star". Say what you will, but the Gators are the consummate "team".

no, the original poster is right, Noah is a douch, and I pray to God he gets drafted sub 10 just for explosing his own doucheness.

I like enthusiasm and I like Florida's game. This little demonstration of Noah's seemed like it made Donovan uncomfortable.
I have read that Noah is very smart and cultured-- so I think he was fronting thug// mugging it up for the camera.

Came off as contrived and less than genuine... I thought.

still a fan. whatever.

Anonymous said...

Get off the Fun Sheriff. He's right, Noah is a douche. Come on, you can't defend that spasmatic "dance". Are you kidding? It's the Predator on PCP.
Efff Noah, Efff Florida. Go Jayhawks.

Anonymous said...

Noah is a great player, but he is a douche. His dance last year was nauseating. What hurt the worst was that I was rooting for Florida and to see him do the dance made me hate that I ever wanted Florida to win. Oh well, they won't repeat and I won't have to see that stupid-arsed dance again.

Anonymous said...

I like peoples' reasons for hating Noah. He dances, he says silly things, he won a national championship..... Someone even called him a "thug" because of his dancing (not because of his post-game 'speech')

Yes. This makes a lot of sense.
Dancing is of course, gang-related, as portrayed in the movie "West Side Story". I get it now.

Anonymous said...

What a complete douche. Act like you've been there before. There's nothing "fun" about a retard doing his spastic dance, right in front of a bemused Verne Lundquist and a clueless Billy Donno.

Jason said...

Sorry people. There is a difference between being enthusiastic because you're a kid enjoying the game and being a douche. Noah is a douche. I have played with and against enough guys like him to know em when I see em.

Sorry, he's a college kid having fun. You should try the NBA. They're the ones who need to show more professionalism.

How can anyone defend that dance? He is a jackass. Anyone notice he was simulating "smacking dat ass"? That is not nice when an uptight basketball annoucer is trying to speak to you on national television. I love how everyone was on his bandwagon last year as the best player in college. It's so clear he isn't and even more clear he is a douche.

Anonymous said...

Agreed...huge douche. Hopefully when he goes to the NBA he'll finally be able to afford a dentists because lets face it...the man is fugly and his teeth aren't helping his case.

Anonymous said...

i do believe that noah was supposed to be taking the mic, hence saying his name over and over again, with the expectation he would stop acting like an idiot and address the crowd. plus the last thing we need is for basketball to turn into football where players start doing dances when they make a shot or stuff someone, celebrate with your team, not trying to draw attention to yourself

bates said...

Grimey--

I was referring to his upbringing as the son of a wealthy athlete.

I'm not casting any aspersions on his basketball skills--he's one of the 3 or 4 best players in college hoops right now.

My point: that's no excuse for being an insufferable douchenozzle.

Anonymous said...

Humorous part is almost ALL of you would want a guy who plays the way he does on your team.

To insult someone because of the way they look is petty, and the fact that he was dancing doesn't make him a douche. When they repeat, you will all look silly.

Anonymous said...

Ok, obviously a lot of Florida fans on here defending the idiot -

It's one thing to be excited - Every game the players are excited and showcase it - But...

1) He disrespected his teammate by jumping in on an interview that was not his -
2) He showed no class by dancing like a fool while someone else was trying to interview him
3) He gets in front of all his teammates to grab more attention
4) what the hell was it? convulsions?

I understand he probably doesn't realize he's being an egomaniac - They usually don't - He probably thinks its just all fun and games, but the people around him don't - He needs to mature real quickly or he's going to lose himself to all the pleasures in life besides just trying to be the center of attention constantly.

Contrast this fool to Greg Oden after they won the B10 tourney - Oden actually stepped back and tried not to be noticed so much, and is constantly deflecting praise to his teammates - And he's only a freshmen -

Noah is embarrassing - and if you guys want to embrace him, be my guest - florida's weak anyway

Anonymous said...

Ha, what a neverending display or idiocy this little blog is. Accusing a college kid of being 'unprofessional' for celebrating a championship: Moronic. Accusing a player who gave up millions to play one more year with his best friends of being an egomaniac: Moronic. A bunch of tightwad internet junkies posting childish insults about a player they'd take on their team in half a second flat: Sad yet amusing.

Tim said...

Yeah...everyone who says Noah is a douche, you got it right...

Yes, Oden is impressive and an absolute exception for his incredible sportsmanship (dude's the next Bill Russell).

But I would argue that any player that starts the jersey-heart-grab thing, chin up, bragging to the camera show (ie. Khalid El-Amin's "We shocked the world!" against Duke or anything Nate Robinson has ever done to celebrate) is worthy of much more criticism then the Noah spaz out.

Midwest love...but Gators are legit.

GA Hill said...

Most of you Noah-haters would be Noah-lovers in a second if he was on your team.

Spoiled kid? He stayed and signed autographs for 1 hour after the Vandy game that they lost. There are countless other true stories like this about him.

Hypocrite much? You chide him for professionalism, yet give him the oh-so-classy label of "douche".

GirlWithBigToys said...

I like the kid....and I'm not even a Gators fan. He seems real unlike a lot of players. Let your emotions flow...jeez. If you were that age in his position, wouldn't you excited as hell. I would.

btw....how sad and pathetic is it to write a blog about someone you dislike, someone who doesn't even know of your shitty existence. How much time do YOU have on your hands, to dedicate a full blog? While you're talking shit about basketball players who aren't even on your level, they're out having the time of their lives. Feel bad? You should....real loser.

I googled "Noah" and "douche" to get here...and what do you know, he's a douchebox. He's a great player, no doubt, but he looked like he was having an ugly grand mal seizure, and well, also like an immense douchebag. I love the NCAA for the love of the sport that you seee the players generally have, but this guy's display was ridiculous.
Tool.

Anonymous said...

yeah - we're the morons for calling the idiot and idiot -
IS he 21? Then he is an adult and should act like one - I have no problem with celebrating - No problem with jumping up and down - Or whatever - But you guys are kidding yourselves if you think its anything other than excitement combined with a massive ego - You don't put yourself front stage like that unless you put your ego frontstage too -
As for signing autographs for a whole hour - wow, so humble - so humble he signed his name for an hour - wowzors -
As for staying in college - that's nice - but it says nothing about his ego, except he's enjoying his time in college -
Most college kids are egomaniacs though - so he's in good company -

Anonymous said...

Anyone who gets annoyed that a 20 year old is happy to win something is truly a douche. Actually, a used toilet water douche.

If everyone in the world was a miserable wretch like you, would you then be satisfied?

1. you expect college athletes to be professional? Do you KNOW the definition of the word professional?

2. I don't think they teach dance moves in english class. I'm also sure that, from interviews he has given, he is much more articulate and thoughtful on camera than you are on your crappy blog, without a camera or microphone in your pasty pimpled face.

3. Who will you be rooting for? - Just so we will know how to judge the 'professionalism' of your preferred college kids...

4. What do you mean, "I tried to find a clip of his post-game interview, which made Noah look even worse." Did you find it or not? If so, why did it make him look worse? Because he speaks better than you write? If you didn't find it, how do you know it makes him look worse? Learn to write, idiot. Maybe you should attend a 'communications' class yourself, twit.

All that said, go Tar Heels!

i just wanted to add that joakim noah is probably the biggest idiot in all of college basketball. he is completely overrated. he might be kind of athletic, but he can't shoot any better than my 8 year old niece. I always disliked him before, but after seeing him on tv after the sec championship game, i completely hate him...perfect scenario: florida gets stomped and noah breaks his leg

Noah is not just overrated, he's classless and unsportsmanlike. As he heads to the NBA I think I hear echoes of Chris Washburn. Good luck!

College kids aren't in the pros, so we cut them slack on obnoxious behavior? Let the coddling begin!! Don't think so. These are "kids" on full scholarship whose every need is covered. Then, when you see SOME of them behave like spoiled brats, it is simply infuriating.

Noah is a huge douche/jackass/annoyance/embarrassment. You cant defend his jackassness with his basketball ability, even douchebags can be good at stuff. It doesnt change the fact that you want to punch him in the face every time you see him. Noah's post game seizures made me cover my eyes then wish the over the hill, uptight announcer trying to interview him would kick him in the nuts.

I can't wait for someone to get in his face. Only Adam Morrison yelled more after every possession than Noah. Not only is the guy ugly, but he parades around with his arms flexed screaming after every play, making him almost unwatchable. Noah is a douche and should be beat up, and I'd bet Oregon's Porter could whip his ass.

Anonymous said...

Joakin Noah=faggot. plain and simple

Anonymous said...

You would never see ALL AMERICAN Arron Afflalo or Greg Oden act this foolish on tv. Donovan needs to control his freak and tell him to stop embarassing the school and state he represents. He can do whatever he wants, but he should know that his outlandish behavior reflects back on the people that represent him.

Anonymous said...

This guy has no sense of sportsmanship. After the Oregon game, all he could do was run down the court trying to jazz up the fans. None paid attention and he sure didn't line up to shake hands. What a stand-out guy...er...not.

Anonymous said...

Couple things: Noah is one of the worst offensive basketball players of all time. It is almost painful to watch his shot at times. Also, his hair is ridiculous. It looks as though someone has glued their pubic hair to his head. Finally, there is a fine line between showing a passion for the game and being a distraction to the rest of your team due to your antics. What needs to happen is that Noah should shave the pubes off the top of his head and then remove the dildo from his asshole because as we can see from his reactions during games, it is causing him a lot of agony.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the guy above me. I will say that if he is playing for Florida he has to have some sort of talent, but he is still severely overrated. Joakim Noah is a fucking idiot who should be shot. It pisses me off how he celebrates for ten minutes after he grabs a rebound or gets a block off of someone who a foot shorter than him. I heard that he doesn't put down that he is seven feet on the roster because he doesn't want to be labeled a freak, well that didn't work. Maybe he should start with cutting his hair so he doesn't look so much like a gay. And even then his fanatics still make him look like he has a corn cobb up his ass. Joakim Noah is a faggot, and I hate FAGS!!!!!

Anonymous said...

What have YOU done lately that would make you want to celebrate like that? Nothing? That's what I figured. He is a KID enjoying himself and doing a great job on the court. Let him have his fun, do you have nothing better to do than knock him?

Lillian J. said...

How disgusting is it that in 2007, homophobic comments like faggot are used so freely. What makes Noah a "faggot"? Why do boys always retort to that shit. You don't like someone, so you call them a gay fag. That is truly the stupidest, most ignorant, and irrational shit ever. And seriously, I know you have teams and players you dislike....that's sports. Stupid, idiotic, Neanderthal to do so, yes? But to wish harm to players and have a STRONG hatred for them says more about your character if anything. How jacked up and shitty is your life where you have so much hatred for some college basketball player or ANY athlete or ANY person of celebrity status who you really don't know? Really, how fuckin' bad is life? Typical side chair fans/ critics who are probably too fat, clumsy, and uncoordinated to actually play sports, so you just sit on your ass and bitch and hoard unnecessary hatred. It's the dick headed fans like this who have no life and take this shit way too seriously who give sports fans a bad name.

I understand and to some extent agree with your post but let's be honest were in the National Championship for the second year something that all of these guys came back to do instead of go pro. Emotions are running high, everyone is going nuts. I don't know about you but If I were Noah the last thing that is on my mind is having perfect grammar. I won the Championship time to celebrate. Congrats on a incredible repeat Gators!

Anonymous said...

It's not the dancing that was so bad, it was what Noah said. I mean, come on, the guy's parents a a former are Miss Sweden and a pro tennis player from France - he's a friggin' rich kid. "Ain't nobody know how we gonna do it, we gonna do it all day, all night, my gator boyz know, my gainesville boyz know". In the end, this guy is supposed to be representing, his university, not just his boyz. Emotions are one thing; acting like you're from the ghetto when you're not is another.

Michigan Chris said...

Florida won. Yes, well done. But those of you who mistake fun and enthusiasm for his ridiculous displays are kidding yourselves.

I know junior high school student athletes that display more sportsmanship and even speak better than Noah. Is his French tainted with thug speak? Or is his thug speak just another show? I don't know French, so will the person who is so impressed because he knows two languages please translate for me? Or is it 4 languages, English, French, Ebonics, and Thug?

You can be enthusiastic and still be a good sport. Being, "overcome by the moment" is merely an excuse for no self control. His displays draw attention to himself and nothing more. He shows no respect for his school, his coach, his team, his state, his parents, the interviewer, the NCAA, the other team, etc, etc. Why did the camera follow him up the stands to hug his mother? Because they were worried they'd miss one of his antics and everyone would be talking about it the next day.

His dance was completely innappropriate. Like one other blogger said, "smack that azz" dance has no reason to be celebrated or on camera. Donovan may like his play, but can't wait to see him go with crap like that. Just when does this "student athlete" have time to study? when he's "doin it all night and all day with his boyz?"

Noah is what is wrong with today's youth, today's sports and society. Bobby Knight would have grabbed him by that pony tail and beat the shit out of him and I bet the rest of America wouldn't have even complained. When he blows out his knee setting one of those illegal picks in the NBA, no one will miss him at all.

Anonymous said...

To the above poster.

Who are you to judge? You don't know Noah or his family and you most certainly don't know anything about his life. He was born and raised in Brooklyn so of course he is going to have that type of an attitude/persona. He has much to work on in becoming a better athlete. More importantly saying that being "overcome by the moment" is just an excuse for radical behavior is a poor attempt at justification. For instance if you sir had just won the most prized possession in American Collegiate Sports back-to-back and absorbed all of the crtics I guess you would be perfectly calm during an interview and be far from jumping with joy. This is not what is wrong with student athletes and American sports. You are what is wrong here the times have changed people are different the kids are different. If you are not ready to accept that then I have a hard thinking you live in America, it must pain you. Don't be mad because one kid who had a Good Mother and Father isn't speaking or acting proper enoungh for you. This is what college sports are all about leaving it out there on the floor and letting your emotions go. I had a great time watching those kids and as far as I'm concerned they can do and say whatever they want. They deserve it.

Michigan Chris said...

My reply to the above poster. Again I say congratulations to Florida. What a great acomplishment, but to you. .. This is NOT what college sports are about. Yes times have changed, but I say for the worse. Say for example, your child plays for Ohio State or whatever school Florida beat in the SEC championship, where Noah did his ridiculous dance. Would you feel the same way? I'm sure you would watch him get up on the podium and make a fool of himself and taunt your child, your fans and your school and you'd just clap and say well done young man. Bravo, you won a basketball game so feel free to act like a baffoon. If you say yes, you are lying.

As for what college sports are about...... Did you hear one time, in one interview, in one newspaper article that even one of the Florida basketball players came back for (get this I know it sounds crazy...) an EDUCATION. Hell No! They came back to win more basketball games. College sports are an extension of amateur athletics and should be teaching lessons to our youth. Times have changed, but not for the better. Check the graduation rates of any major college sports program (especially the ones in the finals). There was a time, not so long ago when student athletes were really students. Games were entertaining and hard fault, yet people had respect for one another. Athletes did graduate, and did go to class, and did speak fluent english.

Yes Florida and Noah did achieve a great accomplishment and I don't expect them to smile and say, "thank you for this trophy now I have a term paper to write, please excuse me. But for god's sake have some respect for the audience watching and the other team." In your logic, just because someone accomplishes something great they have the right to act like a fool. So should a high school state champion climb on the podium and pretend to thrust his pelvis into an awating cheerleader? After all he's just letting his emotions out, right? Should a eigth grader give 2 middle fingers to the crowd that he just beat at an away game? Why not he's just letting his emotions out, right?

You ask who am I to judge? I'm another human being and I act like one. People can have style and personality and be a little different. But when you are thoroughly disrespectful to those around you, then you can expect some disrespect to come back your way. That is what Noah is getting in this blog. (and across the nation) If he wants to act like an uncontrollable animal then he gets treated like one.

I've accomplished a few things in my life I'm rather proud of and I'm overcome with emotion so you can't see me doing this, but I'm ending my post and thrusting my pelvis doing a slap that azz dance that is intended for your nearest female relative, your daughter, your wife, your mother, whoever you so choose. And according to your logic, that is ok. Times have just changed and that is america. So picture me now doing some vulgar gestures toward you and your family. What a great country we live in.

Once Again To Michigan Chris:

I find it almost funny how butt hurt you are about this. Lets be completely honest. How many A plus students are now in the NBA, I'm talking superstars? Most of them are out of high school, mind you! I'm beginning to think you believe that intelligence makes someone better at sports. These people we are talking about are born with the body and skill to play ball. I could careless about "How they are doing in school" these people made a choice to make basketball there number one priority. The schools who recruit these players take on the responbility of controlling them and there egos. Fact: Joakim Noah is a skilled basketball player whos emotions get the best of him. This doesn't mean he is a baffoon a thug or any other names that you want to call him I'm sure you have plenty in your box.

The reason I said you are what is wrong with sports today is because you are still thinking you live in a perfect America. Like I said times have changed these are the kids that are growing up today this is the future of our sports at times I agree it's obnoxious and down right stupid but I've accepted that and hope only that people can change for the better in the future.

As far as your comment "coming back to win basketball games." Do you know what they turned down? Money? Cars? Women? Endorsments? UF didn't pay the kids to come back to win games for publicity if they did that was illegal. They came back to lay back another year play ball and see if they could do it again because they wanted to stay together as a group and make there mark in the history books and I believe they did a damn good job of that.

But I will apologize for giving you the notion that I believe just because they won a championship they can do whatever they want what I meant to say is that they can celebrate however they want and they will not think twice about people like you sitting at home shaking your head because you don't like a 20 year old giving a pelvic thrust. I find it comical you have the audacity to make a comparsion with your accomplishments and that of Florida University. I think it's time you stop taking sports so seriously after all it is just a game right? I'm sorry you had to stoop as low as talking about my loved ones. What a fine American you are.

Michigan Chris said...

Likely my last reply. I think we've found a middle ground. Sure I'm willing to accept that times have changed, but maybe I'm still an idealist. I know for a fact that college sports are more of a stepping stone to the pros than they are an education. We agree. What I will not accept is celebrating of these types of antics. Don't you see that if someone doesn't let him know these types of things are unacceptable they just get worse and worse? Just because everyone is doing it, doesn't make it right. You seem very willing to just accept change rather than stand for something.

There was time when kids called adults Mr. and Mrs., Sir and Maam. They paid attention and had respect. Times have changed so lets just go with the flow right? Vern Lunguist said his name over the microphone 3 times while he did his dance. (by the way the game ended at least 15 minutes earlier) If he was overcome with emotion and had to do a crazy dance, the "moment" had passed. He knew he was on T.V. and took the opportunity to draw attention to himself, the way a self centered, coddled brat would do. He should have turned to Mr. Lunquist and responded to the interview. Would Magic Johnson do that? Larry Bird? Michael Jordan? If Noah is allowed to act this way because he accomplished something great like you say, why didn't these guys celebrate this way? I think they accomplished quite a bit more than Noah. By your logic Michael Jordan should be allowed to whip out his penis and piss all over the court on his opponents logo. He accomplished a few things in his day right? Let him celebrate the way he wants, right? It sounds silly, but it is not far from what you're willing to accept and even embrace. So what level of lewd gesture and disrespect would you say is the cut off point? So far you seem to say let it go, just accept it right? Change happens, kids will be kids, leave them alone. Jordan, Bird, Johnson respected others, fans, opponents, the game, etc. Sure, we have to accept change, but why embrace bad change? Not all change is good my friend.

The more we tolerate, the more people get away with and the more it becomes accepted and eventually the norm. Just because times have changed doesn't mean they have changed for the better. I happen to think times were better when kids didn't trash talk, they got degrees, they shook hands when the game was over. Hell I blame the fab 5 at my beloved Michigan for a good portion of this crap. Sure they are just kids, but how long does being a kid excuse your actions? When are they expected to grow up 16? 18? 21? 28?

The funny thing was I did a google search to see if I was the only one who felt this way and was happy to see I was not alone. I ran across this blog and this is the most I have ever written to any internet site anywhere. I think it is good conversation.

As far as my accomplishments vs. the U of F. You have no idea what I've done. You also don't know me well at all, because I care very, very little about sports these days. I used to play several sports and be very competative and gathered a few honors along the way, but I have little time for it now. Sports are now very low on my priority list compared to family, career, health, friends, etc.

As far as your family goes, you obviously know I was illustrating a point. If you think people can celebrate their accomplishments with obscene gestures and ridiculous behavior then you shouldn't mind me doing it to you, right? I was just making a point. If you're a Florida fan it's just a passionate emotional kid. If you are an opponent, he's a obnoxious obscene punk. If I truly offended you, I'm sorry. I'm sure your female family members are wonderful humans. And just for the record i bet my single genuine apology to you is one more sorry than we will ever hear from Noah as far as offending other people goes. He doesn't have the capacity to see anything from someone elses point of view or admit a mistake.

So Noah can do it on T.V. because he's 7ft tall and can dunk? Since when does an abnormal development and overactive pituitary gland give someone the license to act like a disrespectful obscene idiot? Maybe I'm 7ft tall too. Why can't I do it because I own my own business, have healthly kids, got straight A's , hold a few school records, have a degree, give to charity etc. etc? Believe it or not, in some circles those who care even less about sports, might consider my accomplishments greater than Noah's. It is only a perception by sports fans like you and me that this is even worthy of a trophy. I didn't have the audacity to compare my accomplishments with UofF. I wan't comparing at all. I just said I'm proud of some things I've done (just as Noah is proud and shoud be,) so why can't I do a slap that azz dance? We who enjoy sports agree that back to back NCAA titles is difficult, hard work, amazing, wow. Some scientists would tell you finding a dinosaur bone is much harder. I wonder if that last Nobel prize winner did a dance like Noah's? I'm sure Jonas Saulk did a little jig right after he bitch slapped the polio virus right? Envision, "take that polio, you little bitch, I just f**ked you up!"

75% of Americans couldn't tell you who won the game last night and only about 5% could tell you who won 2 years ago. It really means very little. It is more audacious to think anyone outside the state of Florida even gives a shit. Seriously, how excited are you that my Michigan Wolverines won the NCAA in 1989. Real life changing event huh? I bet it really affected your life. I don't even have the t-shirt anymore. The only guys who still care are the guys who played or coached that day. So that makes 15 out of 5 billion people on earth.

So give me just a touch of satisfaction and agree that just because this kid can nearly touch the rim without leaving his feet doesn't excuse him from all of society's rules about what is proper and respectful behavior toward others. If your kid was playing against Noah, could you honestly say, "aww shucks, the kid is just enjoying himself, that's what it's all about"? I enjoy college sports more than pros for exactly this reason. i enjoy the emotion that comes from the kids and not the pros. BUT, (a very big BUT) there are ways to express emotion without being disrespectful and drawing attention to yourself. Selfish, coddled, spoiled, self centered, inmature, lack of self control, egocentric, disrespectful, vain, attention seeking, none are adjectives you'd like people to call your son.

Should Noah turn out to be a pillar of society and stand for all that is good in the world; I will take everything back and make a yearly donation to whatever pseudo charity foundation he starts with his millions. I think it is more likely we see him making a spectacle of himself until he gets too old and some new young punk is dunking on him in the NBA. I would hope that after he's dunked on the young kid would make a very appropriate gesture toward the old man Noah like a knife in the heart, a throat slash, a doggie style ass slap or something else he saw his hero Noah do on TV when he was a kid just learning the game. i would love to see him prove me wrong. But the way change and sports are taking us, I bet the future is something close to this.

peace .

To Michigan Chris:

So now were comparing Bird and Jordan to Noah. You can all you want but I won't agree. Just because they both won a championship? and even better you compare a pelvic thrust equal to whipping out a penis and urinating, that is just obsurd. Half of the dance wasn't even a pelvic thrust he was just throwing his hands in the air. The commentators are laughing Billy Donovan says "everyday, everyday". So the kid was to busy dancing and listening to the band to stop and hold a formal interview. To some respect it's a bit rude. But I will not listen to your assumptions of him being, for example; Selfish, coddled, spoiled, self centered, inmature, lack of self control, egocentric, disrespectful, vain, attention seeking. All of which i'm sure you have observed first hand. You come up with this list from one video clip. Two things i commend you for putting forth such an effort. But I disagree that this is the person he is portraying to be. Like I said his university and faculty take on the responsibility to make sure there student athletes act appropriately, and judging by the way everyone laughed on the court from the clip, nobody took his dance as far as you are.

I guess I'm just going to accept the fact that you are extremely concerned about people doing these types of antics in society and your revenge is slashing your opponent's throat. Well if you want to condone violence then maybe we should have more people like you coach for our kids so you can tell them how to act properly if one kid goes of and does a pelvis thrust and how to get back at 'em.

You are an idealist in a nation of change and your just going to have to cope with that. Where we differ the most is about some kid doing his own crazy dance after a bastketball game instead of just saying ok that was stupid you need to make a federal case about it. Noah may make some big scenes in his day and then maybe he will realize that he might need to cut down on the showboating, maybe he won't, maybe he already has. I don't know about you but after the game I watched Noah shake and hug greg Oden and say good game like a sportsman would do. Hopefully we watched the same game.

Andrea said...

You ppl are pathetic. He's a KID. He's celebrating the fact that they won. He's got heart, so stop hating. geez.

I have no problem making fun of kids. Noah is an idiot... his stupid antics are funny though.

***chest pounding and yelling***

What's better is when he thinks a call is going his way so he claps and yells and then OOPS!!!! it doesn't! His face is always priceless. What a joke!!!

Anonymous said...

I hate to barge into an argument like this, but I can't resist it when I read through comment after comment of stupidity and suddenly come across dazzling intelligence. Thank God that we're not all Neanderthals.

Unfortunately, this intelligence came in the form of a Michigan Wolverines fan. Against all better judgement, as a student at the Ohio State University, I've decided to utter the most painful six words conceivable.

The guy from Michigan is right.

Now unless you've never talked to anyone in your life, you know that I just died a little inside. Which means that it must be a pretty big deal.

Anyways, onto my point. Joakim Noah completely embodies everything that I hate about sports these days. Being the same age as Noah, I can understand the excitement he goes through. However, I also know that I am growing into a young adult as he must also do. And with that comes immense responsibilty to act respectfully to yourself and other people around you. Now, if I go outside and dance around like an idiot, it's not a big deal, even though I know not to do such a thing. But for Joakim Noah, he's in a bit of a different situation. He is in the national spotlight. You just can't act like that, because you're supposed to be a role model to young kids who might someday want to play basketball. Imagine if in the next 10 to 15 years we get 3,000 more Joakim Noahs in NCAA sports. God help us.

And sure, you probably think I'm just hating on Joakim Noah because I'm a buckeye. But you know I'm right.

Oh, and not to discount my credibility, but he's also uglier than roadkill.

Noah is an average, at best, college basketball player. He is slow, plays soft and can't play defense without help. He will be a HORRIBLE pro if some GM wastes a pick on him. He acts like an idiot because he was raised rich and doesn't know any better. I've seen players in my Rec League that would OWN him. Deny it all you want. He sucks.

Michigan Chris suggested above:

"Check the graduation rates of any major college sports program (especially the ones in the finals)."

I checked.

On March 12, 2007, the Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sports at the University of Central Florida released its annual study, “Keeping Score When It Counts: Graduation Rates for 2007 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament Teams,” which is a comprehensive analysis of the graduation rates of NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament-bound team.

The University of Florida accomplished a 100% Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for it's male basketball team. The overall student-athlete GSR is 92%.

http://www.bus.ucf.edu/sport/public/downloads/2007_Mens_Basketball_Tournament.pdf

Think what you like about Noah. Know the facts about the University of Florida.

Michigan Chris said...

Thanks OSU guy for your support. (as a side note, one of my best friends is an OSU grad and we have a wonderful time giving shit etc. After all this is entertainment right?)

As for the statistician expert from Florida who chimed in about graduation rates. Wow, great job Florida---100% NOT!

You should look a little closer, stats can be manupulated quite easily. THE FACT is Florida had 1 senior in its 2005-2006 roster -Adrian Moss. Adrian graduated, great job. One for one makes 100% this is true for the year 2007!!! only.

You should instead look at the graduation rates of incoming Freshman that are given a scholarship to play basketball for Florida. And next time look over a 10 or 15 year period. Florida athletes in general are at 57% (straight from the survey YOU quoted). 60-70% is in line with Most high profile shools and I'm talking major sports, not the volleyball or swim team. And yes I know that things like transfers and guys going pro will always hurt the statistics, but these are the facts- genius!

Just so you know your roster lost David Huertas last year to Ole Miss. He won't be graduating from Florida. So now you're at 50%. One graduated and one left for another school. So if you wan't to quote statistics, you best do it in a forum where no one has ever taken a stats class. (stick to the gatorzone.) That is where I found your roster and did my own research. Thanks for suggesting it.

Wake up dude.

Michigan Chris said...

A good place to find an explaination of graduation rates (GSR). A new calculation has been made that helps all of the major team where lots of transfers take place i.e. football and basketball.

http://stanford.scout.com/2/618619.html

It does not mention how are early exits to the pros counted. If this young batch of gentlemen from Florida exit to the NBA, how are they counted? What if they take internet courses and such? How long do they get to be counted as a student?

I don't know the answers to all of this and hope to never spend another moment on it. Let's not kid each other and just agree that these and most other hoopsters across the nation aren't "scholar" athletes. If and when they do graduate from Florida, OSU, anywhere, most are not likely applying for a brain surgery position. A communications major like the one this blog is about, can barely put a complete sentence together. But I guess it's cool that he can barely put a sentence together in two different languages as another poster suggested. The suggestion that these athletes are actually being educated belongs in a comedy blog, not a sports blog.

It pains me to say it as well.
The guy from Michigan is right and so is the mature young man from Ohio State. I'm from Northwestern and have just died a bit inside.

The guy from Ohio State is younger and realizes that if we accept this now, what will sports be like in 10 or 15 years?

Let's look back 10 or 15 years. People started spikiing balls after a touchdown, no big deal right, some would even say entertaining. Then touchdown dances, still sort of fun. T'hen we saw some dunks and yelling into the camera, some trash talking. Still harmless fun, right? Next we saw dagger in heart and throat slashing gestures, gang symbols made at the camera etc. Next lewd dancing, players fighting with fans in the stands, players fighting with coaches, getting coaches fired, choaking coaches, middle fingers in the air to fans etc. etc, etc. Sure they all get a one game suspension or a hefty 10,000 dollar fine that they can easily pay without shedding a tear.

The guy from OSU sees this going to a bad place. The argument is no longer about Noah, but a broader problem in sports today. Noah is merely an example of what is wrong with sports and kids today. Fans like you find every excuse for him and celebrate his actions because he helped bring a championship to your school. It's all ok as long as you're on the winning side? Bullshit! If my son or daughter acted like that, no matter how big the accomplishment, I'd jump from my seat and escort them off the court real fast. The posts are about more than this one dumb dance he did. He (and others) have a pattern of disrespect that you seem to embrace because after all he holds a trophy or two now.

The comparison to Jordan, Bird, and Johnson was to illustrate a point. By your logic, the larger the accomplishment the more you can disrespect people and act like a fool. Therefore Jordan who accomplished the most should have free reign to do whatever he pleases. No sir!

It is no surprise Noah acts this way when his father was known for the same crap 15 years ago. He was a mediocre Tennis player, but got more attention for his antics, then he did for his play. Jannick Noah was ahead of his time as well for antics and ridiculous gestures.

The OSU kid is correct, if we accept and embrace this crap now, help us all in 10 years.

Great stats on the Florida graduation rates. They are very misleading!!!!
Did you know that Shaq made his first free throw this year? That's right he was one for one, which makes him a 100% free throw shooter. (for about 30 seconds, before he missed the next 4). But now I can say, Shaq WAS a 100% free throw shooter this year, what happened?

So Florida graduates 100% of its basketball players. Yeah right, for one or two years with one or two seniors. And there is no qualification in the statistics quoted from a study done by the university of Central FLORIDA.

A better statistic is: look at Dean Smith and Bobby Knight who graduated 100% of their (which in not there, by the way annonymous poster from Florida) players over a 30 some year career. I think that is much more representative of graduation rates. Nice try gator.

OSU kid said...

First of all, thanks to the Big Ten representatives for keeping an objective view on this forum.

Second, I'm done with this forum, because the hesitation to believe these well rounded arguments by the Florida fans has pushed me past my limit. But I will say this; it's nice to see that some people agree with me and aren't blinded by the media.

And, in the spirit of college sports fandom:

FLORIDA SUCKS.

Thank you.

hey does anyone know when the next olympics are??

P.S noah is just having a little fun, but he really isn't a lottery pick.

Anonymous said...

I heard all of the Florida juniors have declared for the draft. Looks like next years graduation rate, won't quite be 100%. Good catch on the stats crap.

Maybe Joakim can take correspondence courses over the internet and get his degree. I hope they offer, thugspeak 301, interpretive dance 401, and History of Rock and Roll (Greg Oden's favorite class)

AmyG said...

I have to agree with Sean O and Pico here. I can only revel in the knowledge that you dickhead gator haters out there are still in agony over their decisive repeat. You people should be put to sleep. I can't wait to see Noah and company playing in the NBA. I couldn't be happier for their success and am a fan for life! But before I sign off, I feel a need to rub a little salt in those wounds so....hahahahahaha
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!

OSUkid said...

I can't believe I found my way back to this forum. But I guess that's what boring Sundays are for.

So listen, all of you high-and-mighty Florida fans that come here to tell us that we're just jealous of his success need a serious reality check. Guess what? Joakim Noah didn't have that great of a year. He really did next to nothing throughout the tournament. That being said, this forum post had nothing to do with Florida pulling off a repeat. In fact, I could care less about them winning the championship. Sure, I was bitter at first, and probably acted accordingly, but that's normal behavior. That being said, the point of this forum is clearly labeled in the title; "Joakim Noah Is A Douche"

I stand firmly behind this fact. I thought Joakim Noah was a douche last year too, and he was actually good back then. But this year I can't enjoy watching my school's basketball program have a pretty successful run, just falling short of a very talented Florida team. But you know what? No one really touched Florida in the tournament, so I wasn't surprised that they repeated. But here's a shocker for you; everyone I know is infinitely more bitter about the football championship than the basketball.

So say what you will. I have pointed out along with assistance from others why Joakim Noah is a douche bag. If you can't see that, well, maybe you should start acting the same way as him in public and see what kind of reaction you get. Go ahead. When you buy a bagel, jump around and dance, because hey, you just accomplished something that plenty of people have and will continue to do. So everytime Joakim Noah pounds his chest after a layup, you know that you felt the same sort of accomplishment.

I don't agree Joakim Noah is a douche, maybe a douchebag or a jagoff or a weaseld*ck ("...from now on your Delta Tau Xi name is weaseld*ck.") or a brain-dead "Å"-hole or a d*ckhead or a just a plain d*ck or a...you get the idea. I like how he is benched by management for a game for being an insolent, spoiled, whiny b*tch then the players give him an additional game because they think his behavior merits a stiffer penalty. Yeah, you Jerkim Noah fans have a lot to be proud of, I guess that video and the douche comments weren't too far off the mark. He seems kind of like a Latrell Sprewell or a Dennis Rodman with less talent, if we keep an eye on the news he'll probably cry after a game like another whiney b*tch: Terrel Owens.

Look at him now... You'd have to be a moron to call him self-centered and/or a "me" guy in the NBA. All these haters can keep on hating because he's ugly, he beat your favorite time, and he had fun doing it. At least he isn't afraid to be himself... I'd rather be him than some guy that sits behind a computer and writes a blog about someone he has never met.

Is t fast enough? I`ve tried qemu 3 months ago with my 512MB ram pc but it was too slow to be used. There is something called "kqemu" to accelerate the qemu but couldn`t get it worked. So do you need kqemu?

You shouldn't hate on people who try to have fun. My parents always tell me to have fun and if I'm not to start having fun. I personally think you just have issues with people from other countries.

First of all I want to say great blog! I had a quick question which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before writing. I've had a hard
time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there.
I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10
to 15 minutes are usually wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin.
Any ideas or tips? Cheers!
