Upon winning my first golf tournament there would be a lot of people I'd like to thank. Friends, family, my caddie. Maybe the lucky shirt I was wearing would get a nod too. Out of all the people on that list, though, I'd never think to thank my favorite band. But American Bryan Saltus isn't me, as he won his first Asian Tour victory today, shooting a 5-under par 67 to win the inaugural Cambodian Open on Sunday. And he's also not like me because Saltus dedicated his first victory to The Grateful Dead.
"This is awesome. I would like to dedicate this win to the Grateful Dead, as they have inspired me all the way," said Saltus.Saltus' website let's you know just how big a fan he is - - he attended more than 153 of their shows, and carries their live music in his golf bag. It's been a long time coming for Saltus, and at least he had inspiration from somewhere.
And for the record, when I win my next Facebook Scrabble tournament, I'll be sure to thank Anthony, Flea, and the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
